Site Seeing and Activites
Nestled in the west end of the Stephenville, the Dreamcatcher is a short 2-minute walk to the be beach, shops, restaurants and scenic biking and walking trails.
Also, only minutes away, is the historic French Ancestors Route and Harmon Seaside Links Golf Course.
The French Ancestors Route, around the Port Au Port Peninsula, showcases towering cliffs, pebble beaches, and a distinctive French culture. Highlighted as one of the best touring routes on the island, visitors will encounter a vibrant and exciting culture that dates back to the days when the French colonial fishing fleet used these shores. The traditions, lifestyle and heritage of those early settlers still dominate this small pocket of French-speaking communities with such names as Cape St-George, La Grand’Terre (Mainland) and L’Anse-a-Canards (Black Duck Brook).
Harmon Seaside Links was originally designed as a nine-hole course for US Servicemen posted at the Stephenville Air Force Base in the 1960s. Since 2000, Harmon Seaside Links has boasted a Graham Cooke designed nine-hole extension. The combined holes provide a unique and challenging golf experience. Bordering on the scenic Gulf of St. Lawrence, Harmon’s ocean breeze adds a soothing feel to the course while at the same time requiring attention to prevailing winds at this true ‘links’ course.
